Principals Welcome

Welcome back to Kalbarri DHS for another exciting year in 2024. We hope that you have had a fantastic summer break with your children and had the opportunity to relax and enjoy the amazing environment that we live in. We are eager to begin what promises to be another extremely successful year at the school. Each year we are delighted to have your children in our school with their energy and passion. We are proud to have dedicated parents and experienced staff working together for the common goal of success.

Our vision is to provide a comprehensive, targeted education which fosters wellbeing for every student while valuing and inspiring individuals to develop their skills, confidence, and character in choosing their future pathway.

As demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more evident that we all need to work together to ensure that our children reach their potential. We believe that all of us, the school, families, and wider community must collaborate, in an extended family environment to ensure success for all students.

We believe that you are one of our greatest resources in the education of your child/children. You have an amazing insight into their personality and character. Our intention is to develop a strong partnership with you through effective communication and regular face to face interaction.

Research indicates that when the school and family are engaged meaningfully in the learning program of children they achieve at much higher levels. Our achievement data indicates that we need to continue with this initiative in 2024. We want you to always feel welcome and comfortable in collaborating with staff to meet the needs of you and your family.

We, as a staff, will endeavour to make school a rewarding experience for all families with our positive behaviour expectations of Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Aspire. An integral component of education today is the learning of skills to develop our social and emotional wellbeing. To support this, we will focus on developing further our Student Services Hub this year with a dedicated team to support families.

We invite you to speak with teachers about what you can do at home to support your child/children’s learning, volunteering to be a parent helper in classrooms, joining the P@C, being part of the School Council and attending school events or assemblies.

We have a very busy first term with so many learning opportunities for our students. We have students studying ATAR, going to TAFE, Year7 Camp to Coral Bay, swimming lessons and carnival, NAPLAN Testing, Bushrangers Surf Qualification, OLNA Testing, Bullying NOWAY Day and much more.

We are looking forward to having a fantastic year with you and your child/children. If you would like to discuss anything with myself or our staff, please feel welcome to contact us to arrange a time to meet. We value and appreciate your feedback on what we are doing well and how we can improve.

Kind Regards

 Micheal Ostaszewskyj | Principal
