I hope you had a nice holiday period with your children. We welcome them all back to school with a busy term ahead.
On Monday our staff travelled to Allendale Primary School for a variety of Professional Learning opportunities. Over 500 educators from the Midwest Education District attended and were able to choose from more than 40 sessions. The event was well organised and all of our staff gained valuable information from their chosen sessions.
Next week is the conclusion of education for our Year 12’s at Kalbarri. They will return to complete their exams in week 4.
BUSHRANGERS. LEADER POSITION VACANT
I wish to thank Mrs Helen Waite for her leadership of the Bushrangers troupe, and Mrs Karen Bradley who has been her assistant. Both ladies have done a great job over the last few years and they have indicated to me they are ready to hand the reins to someone else. Bushrangers has been an important part of the school for many years and is particularly prominent in ANZAC services. Students who volunteer to be members of the group find it interesting and exciting and are fulfilled by the community service they are involved in. Please come and talk to me if you are interested in this leadership position.
On October 26th we have a guest speaker to talk to Years 10 and 11 and Year 12 students (if they would like to come back in to listen). The session is about the side effects of synthetic drugs. The title is “One Life, One Choice”. See the attached brochure for further information. The same presenters will also deliver a session to the community whilst in town.
An important part of our role is to encourage pre-service teachers to experience life in the country. This term we welcome three “praccies”.
Miss Caya Balakrishnan is working with Mr Boreland and Ms Keding in Phys Ed.
Miss Anna Brosnahan is working with Ms Walker in English.
Miss Jessica Hooper in Science and Maths with Mr Nash and Mr Nyugen.
Please say hello when you see them and make them feel welcome.
Next Tuesday, Mr Greg Thorne, Regional Executive Director will be in school for a visit.
