New Principal – Michael Ostaszewskyj

My name is Michael Ostaszewskyj and I have the great privilege of being the Principal for Term 4 at Kalbarri DHS. I have thoroughly enjoyed the short time that I have been here, and look forward to the rest of the term. I want to thank everyone who has made me feel welcome in the school and community. It is a great school with a wonderful culture and feeling about it, which is a direct reflection on the hard work and dedication of the staff, students and community.

I had the great pleasure of farewelling the Year 12 students in my first week at Kalbarri DHS. The presentation assembly and graduation dinner were a pleasure to present at and the staff and parents should be proud of the students as they now move off to make their way through the adulthood.

Another first for me was Rainbow Festival this week. As I walked around I was impressed at the way in which the students worked together and supported one another to all participate, build relationship and learn in a fun, highly engaging manner. The feedback from students, staff and parents was reflective of the positive nature of the day. A huge shout out to all the teachers who organised, supervised and ran the activities and day smoothly. A huge shout out and thanks to the parents that attended making this a true community event.

Friday October 30 is World Teachers Day in Australia. It is a day to recognise and thank our teachers for the amazing work and dedication they have to all of our students. As I walk around, and get to know the teachers, I can honestly say that they are some of the most experienced, dedicated, passionate and caring teachers I have had the privilege of working with. You can thank your childs/rens teacher on the 30th in person or by posting a photo in your sunglasses on, on the schools FaceBook page, to say thank you to the teachers and celebrate the bright future of teachers and teaching. Visit for more information.

It is a very sad to loose Maria Prospero as our School Chaplain she has been an asset and support for the students and staff at Kalbarri District High and will be sadly missed. We wish Miss P all the best in her new endeavors in Perth.
