Welcome to our last newsletter of the 2020 school year. The last two weeks of school are in full swing preparing and planning for 2021. After such a disrupted and challenging year, I would like to thank the parents, community and staff for all of the support given to the school and the students. I think that we are all secretly hoping for 2021 to be a super year.
We will have a few staffing changes in 2021. Mrs Davidson is taking 2021 off to spend time with family, Mr Murcott is leaving us from his Science role, Mrs Stiffle is going south to be with family and our School Psychologist, Ms Melita Silvasi is also moving south. We have secured a new Kindy teacher as well as a new high school Science teacher. Mrs Molly Ferrier will be joining us as our new Kindy teacher and Mr Michael James will be joining us as our Science teacher for Term 1, whilst Mr Nash is on leave. A new School Psychologist will be allocated to the school early next year. On behalf of the Kalbarri DHS community we would like to thank and wish Mrs Davidson, Mr Murcott, Mrs Stiffle and Ms Silvasi all the best for 2021 and beyond.
Mrs Janice Keenan
After 40+ years of working at, teaching, caring for, moulding and shaping the lives of the students at Kalbarri DHS, Mrs Keenan has decided to retire and pursue her other passions. We will be celebrating Mrs Keenan’s remarkable contribution to Kalbarri through a variety of different functions. There is a social function for the community to join in on the celebrations, on Saturday 12th December at the Kalbarri Motor Hotel. There will also be a short celebration to commemorate Mrs Keenan’s contributions to the school at the Presentation Evening on the 16th December that we hope to see you all there for.
Classes are busy preparing for their Presentation Evening items. This is a wonderful night where our whole school community can come together to celebrate 2020 and acknowledge our students wonderful achievement and progress. The Presentation Evening is being held on Wednesday 16th December. If all students could be at school by 5:00pm, with parents seated at 5:15pm for a 5:30pm start. We hope to see you all there.
The P&C uniform order is included in this newsletter. 2021 will see a renewed focus on students wearing the correct school uniform to school. A copy of the Student Dress Code Policy will be sent home with students as a reminder of the accepted school uniform. Next year we will be asking students to only wear navy blue or black shorts or track pants and not board shorts, as per the Dress Code Policy.
Semester 2 Student Reports are just being finalised and will again be emailed out to parents on Monday 14th December. These reports are the culmination of the whole years learning for each student for each learning area. Please make sure that the office has your most up to date email address, so we can ensure that all reports are received.
Colour Fun Run
On Friday 11th of December the P&C are running a Colour Fun Run to celebrate the end of another school year. It is a fun day for the students that everyone will enjoy. Make sure that your child has a white shirt for the afternoon. We look forward to seeing everyone here to make the afternoon a highly enjoyable one.
